Four high school basketball teams from the Big Apple will play for a New York State Federation Title in Glens Falls later today. LaSalle will take on Westhill in the Boys Class B Final at 5:00 pm, The Mary Louis Academy and South Shore will play for the Girls AA Title at 7:00 pm, and Lincoln will take on Long Island Lutheran in Boys AA Final at 9:00 pm.
LaSalle topped Fannie Lou Hamer 61-47 in the Boys Class B Semifinal on Friday morning, with Isaiah Allen-Smith scoring 18 points and James Bouknight scoring 12. Westhill, the NYSPHSAA champs from Syracuse, advanced by defeating the Dwight School 72-58.
TMLA and South Shore
The Mary Louis Academy had an impressive performance in the semifinal on Friday, taking down NYSPHSAA champs Baldwin 59-49. The Hilltoppers were led by Co-Miss New York Basketball Danielle Patterson, who scored 18 points, while Kania Pollock, Vanerlie Valcourt and Jordan Nixon had 16, 12 and 11 respectively.
South Shore rallied in the second half to defeat top-ranked Long Island Lutheran 58-53, with Earlette Scott scoring a game-high 28 points, including 16 of 18 free throws.
Lincoln pulled away from Cardinal Hayes late, topping the Cardinals 56-47, with Michael Reid scoring 17 points and Donald Cannon Flores scoring 15.
The Railsplitters continued to get it done on defense and the backboards, holding Cardinal Hayes to 35% shooting from the field (18-51) and out-rebounding the Cardinals 45-29. Lincoln's opponent Long Island Lutheran advanced by defeating NYSPHSAA Champs Mount Vernon.
